As I was making cut-out bat decorations with a six year old, she made a smile on her bat in blue marker. "This is actually a sad smile, because it's in blue. It's like my brother's smile... a sad smile. And that's ok too."

I was blown away with how perceptive and thoughtful she was, and loved that making artwork opened up a channel to talk about and process her feelings
